Visibile: a nod to Giovanni Anselmo

August 25, 2012

Italian artist, Giovanni Anselmo with his hand in front of his piece entitled Invisibile from 1971.

The photograph shows the projection of the word visibile(visible in Italian) from a slide projector, on the artists hand. The word is focused at a distance of one meter and is only made visible when an object is present in the range of the light projected.

To honor the artist and the concept of his original piece, I tattooed the same word on my left hand. The approximate distance between my hand and eye is one meter.
